pain in the butt
So being a tall lady comes with it's benefits and drawbacks. Benefits - I can reach everything in the upper cabinets at home, I can reach the top shelf in stores, and I don't have to worry about not being tall enough to ride roller coasters (DON"T flip out - I am NOT riding roller coasters while pregnant. I'm just referencing in general, those are some benefits about being tall). Drawbacks: I usually have to special order or pay extra for blue jeans, which was also true with pregnancy. Shirts sometimes don't fit (i.e. the shirt is cut too short, or the ribbon under the bust ends up cutting across the bust instead of underneath).
Another downfall of being tall, is low back/pelvic pain. I had a minor bit of scoliosis growing up, and have had low back and pelvic pain off and on for a while. Usually tolerable, but generally just achey. Long trips didn't ever "sit" well. When I say "pelvic pain" - I mean pain in and around my two pelvic bones, my sacrum and hips. A nonmedical person would identifiy it as low back pain or "pain in their butt".
I found that this pain has increased with pregnancy, which I expected. The hormones (OH, the hormones) cause my ligaments to become "lax" so that my joints can become more "movable" - i.e. making carrying and birthing a baby a little bit easier. If we didn't have ligamentus laxity, the babies would be forced to come out of a very tiny opening, and I'm not sure that would fly. So, again we were created in such ways to magicly develop and produce these little munchinks... unfortunately, sometimes it can wreck havic on our bodies.
I've had a general "ache" in my left pelvis for about a week now. Last night and this morning, the pain has been pretty excruciating. It is not consistently painful, but when I move "just so", it will pull and just about knock me over. As a therapist, I can look and palpate (feel) on someone to figure out where their pain is originating, but unfortunatly, I cannot see my own butt. I can feel, but as I am rotating my arms around my body, my body is twisting and not giving an accurate representation. So I know I need to see a therapist, but because I'm pregnant I made an appointment with a women's health specialist. She has a therapy table with a pregnancy support/cutout.
My appointment for pelvic pain is May 21st- but the receptionist said (HOPEFULLY) they can get me in next week. Yeeks.
Hope you guys are enjoying my blogging so far... haven't heard much in response (unless you've told Johnathan - then you can automatically assume that he has not told me). Shoot me an email and let me know your thoughts! And please feel free to share with extended family and your friends if they are interested in my quirkiness and pregnancy!
Lots of love,
Amanda & BR :)

I hope the therapist can help!!! I know your pain sweetie! It has been a very long time...but I can still remember that pregnancy back, butt and leg pain. I was always taller than all of my friends! I don't know if I chose them because I wanted to be short or not!!! LOL My scoliosis has taken about two and half inches off my height since I have gotten older...I am getting really twisted! LOL You will have that to look forward to....it all runs in the FAMILY!!! Aunt Ann
